Go Nats!

I'm a little nervous today because it's my first official post as a Design Team member for Unscripted Sketches {woo hoo!}. I'm not feelig this layout is up to par, so please give me some grace this week, and I'll get on the ball for next week's sketch, ok? Great, thanks!

You're going to see a mixture of cards and layouts with Unscripted ... but I hope to do more layouts because I am so darn behind getting photos in our albums. Here is the US#21 sketch for this week:

And here is my take on the sketch, flipped and modified just a wee bit:

Plus a closer look at the punched border:

I hope you like it. If you'd like to participate, there is a Mr. Linky on the Unscripted Sketches website where you can add a link to your sketch interpretation too. I'd love to see what you come up with!

Supplies: Bazzil cardstock, Fiskars border punch, SU pattern paper, Blossom Quicktuz font.

Hold fast

The sketch for today's card is from Unscripted Sketches #20. The gals at Unscripted come up with the best sketches!

I love the sentiment on this card. It reads, "Hold fast to your dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird, that cannot fly." ~ Langston Hughes. What a great reminder to keep our eye on the goal {whatever yours may be}.

The card was cut using a Sizzix Movers & Shapers die which cuts the card and a window. I've been playing around with placing the window cut-out in different positions ... so you may see more card with a similar design. I plan to purchase other shapes as I am able ... hehe.

Be sure to check out the other Unscripted Sketch #20 interpretations by clicking over to the US blog HERE.

Supplies: Unity Stamps; Copics; DCWV cardstock; Nestabilities label, flower; Sizzix die; Memento ink; Target brad, SU ribbon.

Happy Mail

Ah, Cheryl! You're such a sweetheart ... and way too kind to me! While I would love the coveted title of Copic Design Team member, that's not the surprise. I am, however, totally and completely THRILLED to announce that I am on the Design Team for Unscripted Sketches! WOO HOO!

Please send me your address so I can send out Happy Mail to you. And everyone, be sure to check in regularly for the Unscripted Sketches design each week. Drop by their blog to see the other new designers.

I have some really fun news to share ... but I'm not sure that's it is ok to tell you yet!

Boy, what a teaser that sentence is, lol! I will say it's something that I have wanted to do for a while now, but have never been selected. Any guesses? How about a prize of HAPPY MAIL to the first person who guesses correctly ... and no fair guessing if you are "in the know."

Vintage + Unscripted

So I am really curious to know what you think about today's posting. It's been too long since I scrapped, and I really wanted to complete a layout yesterday. This is way out of the box for me.

I loosely interpreted this week's sketch from Unscripted Sketches #19 and this is what I came up with:

I used Ranger Distress inks liberally. The papers are delicious Graphic 45. This is one of my new favorite companies. I think I put the star brads in the wrong place ... maybe I will move them, maybe not. I'm not sure yet. Any suggestions?

Chelly Challenge

I have a quick share today. It's actually a challenge to case a Paper Makeup Stamps card from the SCS galleries (PMSRP13). I chose this card CHELLY to case. I love Chelly, and the green & purple colors she used. So ... here is my case:

... and a closer look so you can see the delicious Spica glitter pen usage:

Paper Makeup is hosting two challenges and a blog hop this week. Be sure to check them out, you just might see something you like!!
Supplies: Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Eggplant, Lavender, white cardstock (SU); EK Success border punch; CHELLY fairy (PMS); pearls, tag corner punch and Cuttlebug embossing folder; Copics.

Color Me ... Happy

My lss has pattern paper that is perfect for coloring with Copics ~ woo hoo! It is by Luxe designs and the pattern I used today is called, appropriately, Color Me ... Happy. Now ... a little disclaimer, the Copic ink will bleed a bit on this paper, so choose your colors carefully. Purples and reds seemed to be the most difficult for me. As long as I colored with a light hand the ink stayed in it's place.

I used the Unscripted Sketches 17 for the card today. I really like the way it turned out. What do you think?

Here is a close look. Maybe you can tell I used Spica glitter on the word laugh. I resisted the temptation to glitter up the whole card ... but it took a lot of restraint!

I have several more sketches I'd like to complete this week, so hopefully you'll see a few more posts from me. :)
Supplies: Luxe designs pattern paper, Reminisce stripe and floral pattern paper, Eggplant Stampin' Up cardstock, Nestabilities, Copics, velvet ribbon and various buttons.

GNO ~ Friday, Aug. 7

GNO {Girl's Night Out} is this Friday, August 7th. It kind of snuck up on me, but now the word's out so I hope we have a great turn-out. GNO is always FREE to attend. We do accept donations for the Senior Center where we meet, and this month their need is coffee creamer.

Remember BYOC {Bring Your Own Craft}, and bring coupons you'd like to exchange or send overseas to military families {they can use expired coupons in the commissary}. For info, or directions to the Senior Center email me.
